Luka the Iron Fist

“Tell you a secret: the trick to becoming a champion is training hard while everyone is resting.”

Should You Pull for Luka?

Sub-DPS

Luka is a Physical Nihility character who puts Bleed on a single target, then uses his Enhanced Basic ATK to make that Bleed deal its damage again right away. His Ultimate also makes the enemy take more DMG, which helps the whole team and not just him. He works best as a secondary damage dealer in a DoT team, but he can't keep up as the main carry.

A good fit if you play a DoT team (with Kafka, for example) and want one more Bleed user. If you need a main DPS to clear endgame, look elsewhere.

Memory of Chaos Decent He still has some use when you need to pour damage into one high-HP enemy, but dedicated damage dealers do it better.
Pure Fiction Weak He has no AoE at all, which makes him very hard to use in a mode full of enemy waves.
Apocalyptic Shadow Good He has a place against bosses, but the Bleed from his Skill is capped by his ATK, so it struggles to reach big numbers.
Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Very strong single-target damage
  • Can trigger his own Bleed effect to front-load his damage even further
  • Potential synergy with future Bleed characters
  • His Ultimate has a built-in damage boost, so he supports the whole team
  • Easy to build because he does not need CRIT stats

Cons

  • He has no AoE ability, so he does little for the team before the boss
  • The Max HP portion of his Skill's damage is capped by his ATK, and since he is only a 4-star that number cannot get very high

Best Luka Build Guide

Luka Bleed Build

Most of Luka's damage comes from Bleed, and Bleed scales off ATK. So skip CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG entirely and focus on Effect Hit Rate, SPD, ATK and Break Effect.

Best Light Cones

  • 1 Good Night and Sleep Well Good Night and Sleep Well Best
His strongest Light Cone, as long as you can keep 3 debuffs on the enemy. It gives a stacking DMG boost for every debuff on the target, which lines up with his Bleed and his Ultimate's debuff. It does not boost the damage of a Break-focused Luka, though.
  • 2 In the Name of the World In the Name of the World Great
Helps Luka land his debuffs more consistently and boosts his DMG against debuffed enemies.
  • 3 Those Many Springs Those Many Springs Great
Gives a ton of Effect Hit Rate and can increase the DMG enemies take.
  • 4 Eyes of the Prey Eyes of the Prey Great
Gives plenty of Effect Hit Rate and boosts DoT, which suits his Bleed. It is not the highest damage pick, but it is still a good choice.
  • 5 Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat Good
A 4-star that applies a debuff useful to the whole team and also boosts Luka's own Break damage.

Best Relics

1
His best set, and a natural fit for his DoT playstyle.
2
Gives Luka ATK after he attacks or gets hit, so both his hits and his Bleed get stronger.
3
For players building Luka around Break and stacking Break Effect.

Best Planar Ornaments

1
The top pick thanks to its DoT boost. It needs a high enough ATK to activate, so teammates who buff ATK make it easier.
2
Raises his ATK and his Bleed DMG, but Luka needs a lot of SPD for the effect to activate.
3
Gives Effect Hit Rate and also turns Effect Hit Rate into extra ATK, so his Bleed hits harder.

Main Stats

  • BodyEffect Hit Rate or ATK%
  • FeetSPD
  • Planar SpherePhysical DMG Boost or ATK%
  • Link RopeATK% or Break Effect

Substats

  • 1Effect Hit Rate (until you reach 67%)
  • 2SPD
  • 3ATK% or Break Effect

Go for Effect Hit Rate on the Body so Bleed lands reliably, with ATK% as the alternative. Physical DMG Boost comes first on the Planar Sphere, then ATK%. Feet are always SPD. On the Link Rope, ATK% and Break Effect both work. Pick Break Effect if you are going the Break route, since it raises his Physical Break damage.

Effect Hit Rate and SPD are the two most important substats. After that, ATK% or Break Effect are both fine, depending on whether you play pure Bleed or go the Break route. He needs no CRIT substats at all.

Stat Targets

  • Effect Hit Rate67%
  • SPD134, 143 or 160 (143 is the one to aim for)
  • Break Effect0% to 120%, depending on your playstyle

Skill Priority

Skill > Talent > Ultimate > Basic ATK

His Skill is his main source of damage and Bleed, so level it first. The Talent raises the extra Bleed damage his Enhanced Basic ATK forces out, and the Ultimate raises how much DMG the enemy takes. Both matter, and there is not much between them. Basic ATK goes last.

Trace Priority

Cycle Braking > Kinetic Overload > Crush Fighting Will

Cycle Braking regenerates 3 extra Energy for every stack of Fighting Will Luka gains, so he gets his Ultimate back faster. Kinetic Overload dispels 1 buff from the enemy every time he uses his Skill, which is very handy against enemies that buff themselves. Crush Fighting Will gives each Direct Punch hit in his Enhanced Basic ATK a 50% fixed chance to strike 1 more time.

Eidolon Priority

Not required, but E1, E2, E4 and E6 all help

Luka works fine at E0, and Eidolons are just a bonus. E1 increases his DMG by 15% for 2 turns when the target is Bleeding. E2 gives him an extra stack of Fighting Will when his Skill hits an enemy with Physical Weakness. E4 raises his ATK by 5% for every stack of Fighting Will he gains, stacking up to 4 times, which makes his Bleed stronger. E6 makes Bleed deal its damage 1 more time after Rising Uppercut hits a Bleeding enemy, equal to 8% of the original DMG for every Direct Punch hit he has already landed during that Enhanced Basic ATK.

Best Luka Teams

Kafka DoT Team

Replace Kafka with: Hook Replace Ruan Mei with: Robin, Jiaoqiu, Sampo, Asta Replace Huohuo with: Gallagher, Luocha, Gepard, Natasha

This is Luka's strongest team. Kafka is the main DPS and uses her Skill and Ultimate to trigger DoTs, including the Break Bleeds Luka applies. Ruan Mei raises the whole team's Break Efficiency and delays the enemy's recovery from Weakness Break. Huohuo handles healing, and if you don't have her, anyone who keeps the team alive works, such as Luocha, Gepard or Natasha.

Budget Team (All 4-Stars)

The whole team piles DoTs onto the enemy. Serval is the DPS, dealing Lightning DMG and inflicting Shock. Luka applies Bleed and makes the enemy take more DMG with his Ultimate. Asta buffs the team's SPD and adds Burn, and Natasha heals.

Mono Physical Team

Replace Sushang with: Clara, Seele

Silver Wolf is the key piece here, because she can add a Physical Weakness to enemies that don't have one. If the enemy already has a Quantum Weakness, Silver Wolf is guaranteed to implant a Physical Weakness. Clara also benefits from this. Swap Sushang for Seele and the team becomes half Quantum, half Physical.

Best Teammates for Luka

Kafka
Kafka

Kafka triggers Luka's Break Bleeds over and over, giving you the strongest version of DoT against Physical-weak enemies. Add Silver Wolf and the pair can take on almost any content.

Silver Wolf
Silver Wolf

She implants a Physical Weakness so Luka can always play at his best. You do need to time things so Luka is the one who breaks the enemy, not Silver Wolf.

Fugue
Fugue

Helps Luka break enemies more consistently.

Boothill
Boothill

Boothill has more Break Effect, so let him do the breaking while Luka only worries about SPD and defensive stats. Luka then uses his Enhanced Basic ATK to make Boothill's huge Bleeds deal their damage right away.

Ruan Mei
Ruan Mei

Raises the whole team's Break Efficiency and delays the enemy's recovery from Weakness Break.

Serval
Serval

A 4-star DPS who deals Lightning DMG and inflicts Shock, a good fit for budget DoT teams.

Asta
Asta

Buffs the team's SPD and inflicts Burn with her Basic ATK or when she breaks an enemy's Weakness.

Hook
Hook

The strongest 4-star DPS, with high single-target damage and Burn of her own. She can take Kafka's place.

Jiaoqiu
Jiaoqiu

Brings his own DoT and makes enemies take more DMG.

Gallagher
Gallagher

Lowers the enemy's ATK with his Enhanced Basic ATK, and heals allies who attack the enemy carrying that debuff.

How to Play Luka

His Skill Applies Bleed

His Skill, Lacerating Fist, deals Physical DMG to one enemy and inflicts Bleed for 3 turns. At the start of each turn, the enemy takes Physical DoT equal to 24% of their Max HP, but this can't exceed 338% of Luka's ATK at max Trace level. Because of that cap, the more ATK Luka has, the harder his Bleed hits.

Stack Fighting Will to Force Bleed Damage

Every time Luka uses his Basic ATK or Skill, he gains 1 stack of Fighting Will, up to 4 stacks. His Ultimate gives 2 stacks at once, and he starts each battle with 1 stack. With 2 or more stacks, his Basic ATK becomes Sky-Shatter Fist: it uses 2 stacks to throw 3 hits of Direct Punch, then a final Rising Uppercut. If the uppercut hits a Bleeding enemy, the Bleed immediately deals its damage 1 more time, at up to 85% of the original DMG. With Crush Fighting Will, he can throw up to 6 Direct Punch hits before the uppercut.

His Ultimate Makes Enemies Take More DMG

His Ultimate has a 100% base chance to increase one enemy's DMG received by up to 20% for 3 turns, then deals massive Physical DMG to it. This boosts Luka's Bleed damage and the damage of the whole team, so Luka is both a damage dealer and a single-target support.

Let Luka Break the Enemy Himself

Luka is a Physical character. If he is the one who breaks the enemy's Weakness, the target ends up with both the Break Bleed and the Bleed from his Skill at the same time. Break Bleed also deals damage based on the enemy's Max HP, but its cap depends on Break Effect, so the tankier the boss, the more Luka gets out of it.

Quick Tips

  • Use his Technique, Anticipator, before battle to put Bleed on an enemy right at the start and gain 1 extra stack of Fighting Will.
  • Luka only needs to use his Skill now and then to reapply Bleed, and he can spend the rest of the time on Basic ATKs, Enhanced or not.
  • Don't build CRIT on Luka, since his main damage comes from Bleed, which scales off ATK.
  • Don't bring Bronya or Yukong just to buff Luka, because their CRIT buffs are almost entirely wasted on him and are better spent on another damage dealer.
  • When Luka plays alongside Kafka, keep his SPD higher than hers.

Luka FAQ

Is Luka worth using?
Yes, if you want one more DoT character for your team, especially one with Kafka. Luka also dispels enemy buffs with his Skill and makes enemies take more DMG with his Ultimate. As a main DPS for endgame, though, he is fairly weak.
Does Luka need CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG?
No. Most of Luka's damage comes from Bleed, which scales off ATK, so put your stats into Effect Hit Rate, SPD, ATK and Break Effect.
How much Effect Hit Rate does Luka need?
A total of 67% is ideal, enough for Luka to land Bleed on enemies almost every time.
What is Luka's best Light Cone?
Good Night and Sleep Well is his strongest Light Cone if your team can keep 3 debuffs on the enemy. Eyes of the Prey and In the Name of the World are also great choices.
Which game modes suit Luka?
Luka only hits one target, so he struggles in Pure Fiction. In Memory of Chaos and Apocalyptic Shadow he still has some use against high-HP bosses.
