Should You Pull for Asta?

Support

Asta is a free 4-star support who raises the whole team's ATK with her Talent and the whole team's SPD with her Ultimate. She fits into almost any team, from the early game all the way to hard endgame content, so she is well worth the materials it takes to build her.

Best for newer players who don't have limited Harmony characters yet, and for Fire teams or teams with two damage dealers. If you already own strong 5-star supports, Asta will rarely win a team slot.

Memory of Chaos Strong 5-star supports outclass her by a wide margin here, so she has a hard time earning a spot.
Pure Fiction Strong With lots of enemies on the field, her Skill's Bounces hit more targets and Charging stacks build up much more easily.
Apocalyptic Shadow Strong Team-wide SPD and ATK buffs still do their job, they just don't stand out as much as what 5-star supports bring.
Pros & Cons

Pros

  • A support character usable in any team
  • Her Ultimate gives the whole team a very strong SPD boost
  • Good breaking ability for a support character
  • Good support for dual-carry teams
  • Varied playstyles and builds

Cons

  • Stacking her buff is awkward because her Skill's bounces are random
  • Holding those stacks is awkward too because it costs Skill Points
  • Outclassed by 5-star amplifiers, so she no longer has a niche of her own

Best Asta Build Guide

Best Asta Build

None of Asta's buffs scale off her stats, only off her Trace levels. So just build her tanky with HP% and DEF%, then add SPD so she acts more often and Energy Regeneration Rate so her Ultimate comes up sooner.

Best Light Cones

  • 1 But the Battle Isn't Over But the Battle Isn't Over Best
Her top pick. It gives Energy Regeneration Rate, restores extra Skill Points when Asta uses her Ultimate, and boosts the DMG of the ally who acts right after she uses her Skill.
  • 2 Dance! Dance! Dance! Dance! Dance! Dance! Great
Every time Asta uses her Ultimate, the whole team is Advanced Forward. Add the SPD from her Ultimate on top and your team gets a lot of extra turns. Aim for S5 to get the most out of it.
  • 3 Memories of the Past Memories of the Past Great
Restores extra Energy every time Asta attacks, so her Ultimate comes up faster.
  • 4 Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds Great
Gives the whole team one of three buffs: ATK, CRIT DMG or Energy Regeneration Rate. Every one of them helps, either by raising team damage or by getting everyone's Ultimates up faster.
  • 5 Meshing Cogs Meshing Cogs Good
A 3-star Light Cone that restores Energy when Asta attacks or gets hit, so the more she gets hit, the more it gives. The trade-off is that it has no other supportive effect and its base stats are low.
  • 6 Planetary Rendezvous Planetary Rendezvous Good
A Light Cone for Fire teams. It boosts the DMG of allies who share Asta's Type, so it is only worth equipping when your main damage dealer is also Fire.

Best Relics

1
Her best set. Using her Ultimate on allies gives the whole team extra SPD. Time her Ultimate so the SPD buff stays on your key teammates for as long as possible.
2
Use this when someone else on the team already wears Messenger Traversing Hackerspace, or when Asta is in a Break team. She is pretty good at Weakness Break, so the Break Effect from this set is useful too.
3
A specialist set that lets her reach higher SPD breakpoints than stacking SPD alone. It works when Asta can use her Ultimate at least once every 3 actions, ideally once every 2.

Best Planar Ornaments

1
Good for CRIT teams because it raises the whole team's CRIT DMG. It needs at least 30% Effect RES to activate.
2
Very easy to activate, makes Asta tankier and suits teams that scale off ATK. When she supports a DoT team, pick this over Broken Keel.
3
Good for Fire teams, since it boosts the DMG of allies who share her Type and also gives Energy Regeneration Rate.

Main Stats

  • BodyHP% or DEF%
  • FeetSPD
  • Planar SphereHP% or DEF% or Fire DMG Boost
  • Link RopeEnergy Regeneration Rate

Substats

  • 1SPD (up to your breakpoint)
  • 2HP%
  • 3DEF%
  • 4Effect RES

SPD Feet and an Energy Regeneration Rate Rope are the standard picks, because Asta wants to act fast and get her Ultimate up early. On the Body, go for HP% first, though DEF% works too. For the Planar Sphere, HP%, DEF% or Fire DMG Boost are all fine, depending on whether you want her tankier or dealing a bit more damage.

HP% and DEF% are equally good. You only need Effect RES up to 30% if you use Broken Keel.

Stat Targets

  • SPD134 or more, 143 is ideal, or 160 and up
  • HP3600 to 4400 or more
  • DEF900 to 1100 or more
  • Energy Regeneration Rate19.44% or more
  • Effect RES30% if you use Broken Keel

Skill Priority

Talent = Ultimate > Skill > Basic ATK

Her Talent sets how much ATK the team gets and her Ultimate sets how much SPD, so level those two first. A moderate Skill level is enough, and it helps her break Fire-weak enemies. Basic ATK is mostly there to recover Skill Points, so you can leave it at base level.

Trace Priority

Ignite > Sparks > Constellation

Ignite raises all allies' Fire DMG by 18% while Asta is on the field, so unlock it first. Sparks lets her Basic ATK inflict Burn. Constellation raises Asta's DEF based on how many Charging stacks she has.

Eidolon Priority

E2 is the first big milestone, E6 keeps her buff up the longest

E1 adds one extra hit to her Skill, giving her another chance to collect Charging stacks. E2 stops Asta from losing Charging stacks on the turn right after she uses her Ultimate, so the ATK buff lasts longer. E4 raises her Energy Regeneration Rate by 15% while she has 2 or more Charging stacks. E6 reduces the stacks she loses each turn by 1, which keeps the buff up much more steadily and makes E4 active more often.

Best Asta Teams

Fire Team

Replace Himeko with: Hook

Just by being on the field, Asta raises the whole team's Fire DMG through Ignite, and Himeko gets the most out of it. Topaz & Numby is the second damage dealer and Fu Xuan keeps everyone alive. In this team Asta can wear Planetary Rendezvous to boost her Fire teammates' DMG even more. Hook also inflicts Burn and deals more DMG to Burned targets, so she can take Himeko's place.

Best Teammates for Asta

Kafka
Kafka

One of her best pairings. Asta gives a huge SPD boost and in most teams she can easily keep her ATK buff at max stacks. Asta also uses Basic ATK often, which gives Kafka more chances to trigger her Follow-up ATK.

Black Swan
Black Swan

Makes great use of the SPD from Asta's Ultimate to stack more Arcana on enemies, though it costs more Skill Points than pairing her with Ruan Mei. The Burn from Asta's Basic ATK also lets Black Swan apply more Arcana stacks per attack.

Himeko
Himeko

Asta only has to be on the field for Ignite to boost Himeko's Fire DMG, so the two work really well together.

Hook
Hook

Like Himeko, Hook inflicts Burn and deals more DMG to enemies that are already Burned.

Topaz & Numby
Topaz & Numby

The second damage dealer in the Fire team. Asta is good at supporting teams with two damage dealers.

Silver Wolf
Silver Wolf

Can implant a Fire Weakness on enemies. When an enemy has a Fire Weakness, each of Asta's hits on it gives her 1 extra Charging stack.

Guinaifen
Guinaifen

The Burn from Asta's Basic ATK is one more debuff on the enemy, which helps Guinaifen's own mechanic.

Silver Wolf LV.999
Silver Wolf LV.999

Asta's Ultimate gives a big flat SPD boost, and Silver Wolf LV.999's Traces can make use of that SPD. In a regular team with Silver Wolf LV.999, Asta is on the weak side, but in runs without a healer or shielder, her Ultimate together with Dance! Dance! Dance! pushes the whole team's turns forward a lot.

Fu Xuan
Fu Xuan

Covers the sustain slot in the Fire team with Asta.

How to Play Asta

Stack Charging to Raise the Team's ATK

Her Talent, Astrometry, gives Asta 1 stack of Charging for every different enemy she hits, plus 1 more if the enemy has a Fire Weakness. Each stack raises the whole team's ATK, up to 5 stacks. Starting from her second turn, she loses 3 stacks at the start of every turn, so you need to keep attacking to hold the buff. Even against a single enemy, Asta attacks every turn, so she always keeps at least 1 stack, or 2 if the enemy is weak to Fire.

Skill Bounces for Multiple Hits and Strong Breaking

Her Skill, Meteor Storm, hits the target you pick and then Bounces 4 more times to random enemies. Against a big group, the Bounces land on lots of different enemies and Charging stacks build up very quickly, with a bit of luck involved. Against a single enemy, all 5 hits land on it, and the total Toughness damage is about the same as many characters' single-target Ultimates. That makes Asta very good at Weakness Break for a support, especially against Fire-weak enemies.

Time Your Ultimate

Her Ultimate, Astral Blessing, raises the SPD of all allies, Asta included, for 2 turns. Its real strength is how it pushes the whole team further up the turn order. The easiest trick: turn on Display Action Values in the settings, and the numbers in the turn order show how far away the next turn is. The bigger the number, the more value you get from using her Ultimate. Also, if you use her Ultimate during an ally's turn before they act, that ally seems to get an extra turn of the SPD buff. It is really a safety net that keeps you from wasting one turn of the buff.

Traces That Support Fire Teams

Ignite raises all allies' Fire DMG by 18% while Asta is on the field, a perfect fit for Fire teams. Sparks gives her Basic ATK an 80% base chance to Burn the enemy for 3 turns. The Burn damage itself is close to nothing, but it is a debuff that helps some teammates. Constellation raises Asta's DEF by 6% per Charging stack, so she survives longer.

Asta FAQ

Is Asta worth building?
Yes. Asta is a free 4-star support who raises both the team's ATK and SPD, and she is useful from the early game all the way to hard content. If you already have strong 5-star supports, though, she often gets pushed out of the team, especially in Memory of Chaos.
How much SPD does Asta need?
At least 134, and 143 is the number to aim for. If you want her even faster, you can push her to 160 or more.
What Light Cone should Asta use?
But the Battle Isn't Over is her top pick. Without it, use Dance! Dance! Dance! (ideally at S5), Memories of the Past or Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds. Meshing Cogs is a 3-star option that helps with Energy.
Which Eidolon should I stop at?
Asta already works well at E0. E2 is the first big milestone because she keeps her Charging stacks after using her Ultimate, and E6 makes her lose fewer stacks each turn, so her buff lasts the longest.
Does Asta need enemies weak to Fire?
Not necessarily, but against Fire-weak enemies Asta gets 1 extra Charging stack per hit, so stacking her buff is much easier. Silver Wolf can also implant a Fire Weakness on enemies.
