Midnight Tumult
[Single Target]Deals Lightning DMG equal to 140% of Kafka’s ATK to a one designated enemy.
“You won’t remember a thing except me.”
Since Version 3.4, Kafka has moved fully into a support role for DoT teams. She keeps detonating the DoT effects already on enemies with her Skill, Ultimate and Follow-up ATK, and she gives a 100% ATK boost to allies with at least 75% Effect Hit Rate. Because she is a support rather than a pure damage dealer, she stays useful for a long time instead of ending up on the bench.
Worth pulling if you like the DoT playstyle and already have (or plan to pull) Black Swan or Hysilens. Hysilens in particular needs Kafka to reach her full strength, so if you are aiming for Hysilens, you should have Kafka.
This is how Kafka is played now: she runs with one or two other DoT characters and takes as many actions as possible to detonate their effects. She does not need CRIT at all. Just reach 75% Effect Hit Rate, then stack SPD.

Effect Hit Rate and ATK% both work on Body. If your Light Cone already gives a lot of Effect Hit Rate, like Those Many Springs, take ATK%. Feet is always SPD. On the Planar Sphere, Lightning DMG Boost is equal to or a little better than ATK%. On the Link Rope, go for Energy Regeneration Rate so she gets her Ultimate often, with ATK% as the backup.
Once you have 75% Effect Hit Rate, SPD is the most important stat. The more turns Kafka takes, the more she detonates and the faster her Follow-up ATK uses come back.
Her Ultimate and Skill are her two main sources of damage, so level them equally. Max both before moving on to her Talent. Kafka almost never uses her Basic ATK, so leave it for last.
Torture raises the ATK of any ally with at least 75% Effect Hit Rate by 100%, Kafka included. Thorns lets her Follow-up ATK detonate DoT and gives back 1 Follow-up ATK use each time she uses her Ultimate. Plunder restores 5 Energy when a Shocked enemy is defeated. All three matter a lot, so unlock them early.
E1 Da Capo makes targets Kafka attacks take 30% more DoT for 2 turns, so if you want an Eidolon, get this one first. E2 Fortississimo raises the DoT of the whole team by 33%. E4 Recitativo helps her regenerate Energy a little faster. E6 Leggiero greatly increases her own Shock DMG and makes Shock last 1 turn longer.
For players who want Kafka to deal the damage herself, or who don't plan to run her with another DoT character.

This build puts everything into ATK and SPD. Get your Effect Hit Rate from substats to reach the 75% needed for Torture.
Keep Kafka slower than the other DoT characters in the team, so she acts after them and detonates the effects they just applied.
A team with three DoT characters, and it works especially well with Hysilens. Hysilens and Black Swan apply the effects, and Kafka detonates them with her Skill, Ultimate and Follow-up ATK, and every detonation also triggers the effect of Hysilens' Ultimate. Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae provides shields and an ATK buff for the main damage dealer, which stacks nicely with Kafka's Torture.
Kafka's standard setup: one more DoT character, one support, and one healer or shielder. Ruan Mei raises DMG and gives RES PEN, and her Ultimate delays enemies' turns, so DoT gets triggered more often. If you don't have Ruan Mei, Silver Wolf is the replacement, especially when the team needs Weakness Break.
Kafka is Hysilens' best teammate, and playing Hysilens without her is hardly an option. Hysilens wants allies who attack often and trigger DoT, and Kafka does both, so Hysilens' Ultimate and Talent effects keep getting triggered.
The classic pairing. Black Swan's DoT is always on enemies and keeps stacking up, so every detonation from Kafka has something to hit. Her Ultimate also makes enemies take more DMG.
Raises DMG, gives RES PEN, and her Ultimate delays enemies' turns, so DoT gets triggered more often.
Makes enemies take more DMG and applies his own DoT, which gives Kafka more to detonate and helps the Prisoner in Deep Confinement set.
Raises the ATK and DMG of the whole team, and after her Ultimate she advances everyone's turn.
Strong damage amplification and very Skill Point friendly. A great fit for fights with few targets, where the extra amplification helps bring bosses down faster.
Excellent damage amplification and high AoE damage of her own, so she fits fights with lots of enemies.
Provides shields, an ATK buff and extra damage for the main DoT damage dealer, which stacks well with Kafka's Torture.
A 4-star DoT character who is strong against Fire-weak enemies and makes enemies take more DMG.
A 4-star support who gives ATK% and SPD and also inflicts Burn for Kafka to detonate.
Kafka has 3 ways to make the DoT effects on enemies deal damage right away. Her Skill Caressing Moonlight detonates them on the main target (75% of the original DMG) and on adjacent targets (50%). Her Ultimate Twilight Trill hits all enemies, inflicts Shock and detonates every DoT on them. The Follow-up ATK from her Talent (thanks to the Thorns Trace) detonates them on the target it hits. Shock lasts 2 turns, and at the start of each of their turns, enemies take Lightning DoT equal to up to 290% of Kafka's ATK.
Her Talent Gentle but Cruel now triggers after any attack from a teammate, not only Basic ATK. Kafka launches a Follow-up ATK that deals 140% of her ATK and has a 100% base chance to inflict Shock. It can trigger up to 2 times, with 1 use recovered at the end of Kafka's turn. With the Thorns Trace, each Ultimate gives back 1 more use, and the Follow-up ATK also detonates every DoT on the target for 80% of the original DMG.
The Torture Trace raises the ATK of any ally with 75% Effect Hit Rate or more by 100%, and Kafka benefits too. To land Shock reliably she only needs about 67%, but the ATK boost is so big that you should just go to 75%. Nihility teammates usually build Effect Hit Rate anyway, so they can easily get this buff as well.
Her Follow-up ATK uses come back mainly on Kafka's own turns, and her Ultimate gives back 1 more. So the more turns she takes and the sooner she gets her Ultimate, the more times she can detonate. Once you have 75% Effect Hit Rate, SPD is the stat to chase.

Deals Lightning DMG equal to 200% of Kafka’s ATK to a target enemy and Lightning DMG equal to 75% of Kafka’s ATK to enemies adjacent to it.

Deals Lightning DMG equal to 96% of Kafka’s ATK to all enemies, with a 100% base chance for enemies hit to become Shocked and immediately take DMG from their current Shock state, equal to 110% of its original DMG. Shock lasts for 2 turn(s).
While Shocked, enemies receive Lightning DoT equal to 361% of Kafka’s ATK at the beginning of each turn.
After Kafka’s teammate uses Basic ATK on an enemy target, Kafka immediately launches Follow-Up ATK and deals Lightning DMG equal to 189% of her ATK to that target, with a 100% base chance to inflict Shock equivalent to that applied by her Ultimate to the attacked enemy target, lasting for 2 turns. This effect can only be triggered 1 time per turn.
Immediately attacks all enemies within a set range. After entering battle, deals Lightning DMG equal to 50% of Kafka’s ATK to all enemies, with a 100% base chance to inflict Shock equivalent to that applied by her Ultimate on every enemy target for 2 turn(s).
When the Talent triggers a Follow-Up ATK, there is a 100% base chance to increase the DoT received by the target by 30% for 2 turn(s).
