“Go ahead, use me as you wish, even stab me in the back if you see fit. Exploitation and treachery are simply tools of the trade. But remember, I don’t make deals that don’t pay off… So, I hope you don’t disappoint me.”

Should You Pull for Aventurine?

Shielder

Aventurine is a Preservation character who shields the whole team and still deals a fair amount of damage on his own. Both his Shields and his damage scale off DEF, so he is very easy to build: stack DEF and he gets better at everything. His Shields stack and get refreshed by his follow-up attacks, so he usually doesn't need to use his Skill every turn.

Well worth pulling if you play Follow-up ATK teams, or if you need another sustain unit who can also chip in damage. He also fits Acheron teams because he can apply debuffs to enemies.

Memory of Chaos Outstanding Stacking Shields and team-wide Effect RES keep everyone safe, though his own damage is not very high.
Pure Fiction Very strong When enemies keep using AoE attacks or your allies fire off lots of follow-up attacks, Blind Bet builds up fast and his Shields stay refreshed.
Apocalyptic Shadow Very strong His Ultimate plus his follow-up attack break a single target's Toughness very quickly, which helps a lot when you focus down one enemy.
Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Excellent and consistent shielding
  • Gives the whole team great resistance to crowd control and debuffs
  • Extremely Skill Point positive and flexible
  • Absurd amounts of Toughness damage from his Ultimate and follow-up attacks
  • The best sustain unit for follow-up attack teams

Cons

  • The debuff from his Ultimate only affects a single target
  • Fairly flat damage and offensive presence
  • Relies on enemies attacking in AoE constantly (or on ally follow-up attacks) to refresh his shields
  • Weak against enemies that only focus on his other allies

Best Aventurine Build Guide

Best Aventurine Build

Everything Aventurine does scales off DEF. Get his DEF up to the target first, sort out his SPD, and only then look at CRIT stats so he hits harder.

Best Light Cones

  • 1 Inherently Unjust Destiny Inherently Unjust Destiny Best
Aventurine's signature Light Cone. It gives a big DEF boost and extra CRIT DMG when he provides Shields, and each of his follow-up attacks makes enemies take more DMG, which the whole team benefits from.
  • 2 Moment of Victory Moment of Victory Great
A huge DEF boost that also makes enemies more likely to target him, and his DEF goes up even more when he gets hit. The more he gets attacked, the faster his Blind Bet builds up.
  • 3 Concert for Two Concert for Two Good
Raises his DEF and his DMG for each ally who has a Shield. Aventurine shields the whole team, so this Light Cone fits him well.
  • 4 This Is Me! This Is Me! Good
A 4-star Light Cone that adds DEF and boosts his Ultimate DMG based on his DEF.
  • 5 Journey, Forever Peaceful Journey, Forever Peaceful Good
A very good 4-star Light Cone for Aventurine. It makes his Shields stronger and increases the DMG dealt by the whole team.
  • 6 Trend of the Universal Market Trend of the Universal Market Stopgap
Works best in Acheron teams. It adds DEF, and when Aventurine gets attacked it applies an extra Burn to the enemy, which helps Acheron get her Ultimate out faster.

Best Relics

1
His best set. Aventurine's Shields get stronger, and allies who have a Shield get extra CRIT DMG.
2
A purely defensive set for shielders. Fine if you already have it, but don't farm it just for him, since its domain is not worth the Trailblaze Power.
3
For players who want more damage out of Aventurine. The Unnerved debuff from his Ultimate helps power this set, but to keep it active reliably you want his signature Light Cone or E2. Even built this way, his damage stays fairly low in most teams, so this set is not really recommended.

Best Planar Ornaments

1
The top pick. It raises the whole team's CRIT DMG. The set needs 30% Effect RES, but his Fortified Wager shield already gives Effect RES, so you don't need any from your relics.
2
For a damage-focused build. It boosts his Ultimate and follow-up attack DMG, and his A2 Trace makes the 50% CRIT Rate requirement easy to reach.
3
A good fit when the team has a single ATK-scaling damage dealer, and it gives Aventurine some extra Energy Regeneration Rate.

Main Stats

  • BodyDEF% or CRIT DMG
  • FeetSPD or DEF%
  • Planar SphereDEF% or Imaginary DMG Boost
  • Link RopeDEF%

Substats

  • 1DEF% (until you reach 4000 DEF)
  • 2SPD
  • 3CRIT DMG
  • 4CRIT Rate

SPD is the first choice on Feet so he acts more often, though DEF% works too. On Body and Planar Sphere, take DEF% while you are still short of 4000 DEF. Once you reach it, switch to a CRIT DMG Body and an Imaginary DMG Boost Sphere so he hits harder.

Stack DEF until you hit 4000, and aim for the SPD breakpoint that suits your team along the way. After that, go for CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate, keeping roughly a 1:2 CRIT Rate to CRIT DMG ratio counting the CRIT Rate his A2 Trace adds in combat. If you want even bigger Shields, keep stacking DEF% instead.

Stat Targets

  • DEF4000 or more
  • SPD134 or more, or the 106 breakpoint depending on the team
  • CRIT Rate60% to 90% (including his A2 Trace)
  • CRIT DMG110% to 170%
  • HP2900 to 3000 or more

Skill Priority

Skill > Talent > Ultimate > Basic ATK

His Skill matters most because it decides how thick his Shields are. His Talent raises the Effect RES for shielded allies and his follow-up attack DMG, while his Ultimate strengthens the Unnerved CRIT DMG debuff and its own DMG. These two are close, so level the Talent slightly earlier. Basic ATK comes last because most of his damage comes from his follow-up attack and Ultimate.

Trace Priority

A2 Trace > Bingo! > Hot Hand

All three are very important, so unlock them as early as you can. His A2 Trace turns his DEF into CRIT Rate. Bingo! lets allies with Fortified Wager build Blind Bet for him when they launch follow-up attacks, and adds more Shields after each of his own follow-up attacks. Hot Hand gives the whole team a Shield right at the start of battle without spending any Skill Points.

Eidolon Priority

E1 is the best value stopping point

E1 gives allies with Fortified Wager 20% more CRIT DMG, and every Ultimate also shields the whole team. E2 makes his Basic ATK reduce the target's All-Type RES by 12% for 3 turns. E6 increases his DMG by 50% for each ally with a Shield, up to 150%.

Best Aventurine Teams

Follow-up ATK Team with Feixiao

Replace Feixiao with: Yunli, Clara, Himeko

Aventurine is at his best in Follow-up ATK teams, because follow-up attacks from his shielded allies help build his Blind Bet. His own follow-up attacks and the Unnerved debuff help Feixiao deal as much damage as possible. Cipher spreads debuffs and launches follow-up attacks often, and Robin raises the whole team's CRIT DMG and follow-up attack DMG.

Follow-up ATK Team with Dr. Ratio

Replace Topaz & Numby with: Moze

Topaz & Numby make enemies take more follow-up attack DMG, and Robin raises the whole team's CRIT DMG and follow-up attack DMG. Aventurine keeps everyone alive while adding his own follow-up attacks and the Unnerved debuff so Dr. Ratio hits as hard as possible. In the support slot, Ruan Mei or Silver Wolf can also step in.

Acheron Team

Aventurine's Ultimate inflicts Unnerved on an enemy, which gives Acheron Slashed Dream stacks toward her Ultimate. If you don't have Jiaoqiu, put Trend of the Universal Market on Aventurine so he applies more debuffs. If you are missing a support, Pela, Silver Wolf, Welt, Guinaifen or Luka can all fill in.

Budget Team (All 4-Stars)

Everyone besides Aventurine is a 4-star, and he is the only sustain unit the team needs. Herta builds his Blind Bet just by launching follow-up attacks, Asta raises the team's SPD, and Yukong boosts their CRIT.

How to Play Aventurine

Skill Shields the Whole Team and Stacks

His Skill, Cornerstone Deluxe, gives every ally a Fortified Wager shield that scales off Aventurine's DEF and lasts 3 turns. The best part is that this shield stacks, up to 200% of the Shield from a single Skill use. Allies with Fortified Wager also gain Effect RES, so debuffs land on them less often. While Aventurine himself has Fortified Wager, he can resist Crowd Control debuffs, and this effect can trigger again after 2 turns.

Build 7 Blind Bet for a Follow-up Attack

Every time an ally with Fortified Wager gets attacked, Aventurine gains 1 point of Blind Bet, and when he is the one attacked he gains 1 extra point. Thanks to his Trace Bingo!, each follow-up attack from an ally with Fortified Wager also gives 1 point, up to 3 times between his turns. At 7 points, he launches a 7-hit follow-up attack, with each hit striking a single random enemy, and Bingo! then gives the whole team extra Shields. He can hold up to 10 points of Blind Bet at once.

Ultimate Inflicts Unnerved on One Target

His Ultimate, Roulette Shark, gives Aventurine a random 1 to 7 points of Blind Bet, then inflicts Unnerved on one enemy for 3 turns. Allies who hit an Unnerved enemy deal more CRIT DMG. It costs only 110 Energy, so it comes back around fairly quickly. Keep in mind that the debuff only affects one target.

More DEF Means More CRIT Rate

His A2 Trace gives Aventurine 2% CRIT Rate for every 100 DEF above 1600, up to 48% at 4000 DEF. This bonus only applies in combat, so his stats screen outside of battle will show less. That is why you stack DEF first: it makes his Shields thicker and raises his damage at the same time.

Quick Tips

  • His Shields stack and refresh through follow-up attacks, so you can often just use Basic ATK to save Skill Points and only use his Skill before heavy AoE attacks.
  • Use his Technique, The Red or the Black, several times before a fight, since the highest DEF boost you roll (24%, 36% or 60%) is kept and applied to the whole team for the first 3 turns.
  • If your team has Yunli or Clara, place them next to Aventurine so they get hit more often.
  • If your team is almost entirely Imaginary characters, 4 pieces of Wastelander of Banditry Desert is also a usable option.
  • If you want to run a mono-Imaginary team with Dr. Ratio and March 7th (The Hunt) against enemies that are not weak to Imaginary, bring Silver Wolf to implant an Imaginary Weakness.

Aventurine FAQ

Is Aventurine worth pulling?
Yes, if you play Follow-up ATK teams or need a sustain unit who can still deal damage. He performs well in Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction and Apocalyptic Shadow.
How much DEF does Aventurine need?
Aim for 4000 DEF or more. That is the point where his A2 Trace gives the full 48% CRIT Rate, and his Shields are very thick at that level too.
What Light Cone should Aventurine use without his signature?
Moment of Victory is a very good 5-star option. For 4-stars, go with Concert for Two, This Is Me! or Journey, Forever Peaceful. If you play him with Acheron, consider Trend of the Universal Market.
Which Eidolon should I stop at?
E1 is the best value stopping point: allies with Fortified Wager get 20% more CRIT DMG, and his Ultimate also shields the whole team.
Does Aventurine work with Acheron?
Yes. His Ultimate applies a debuff that helps Acheron build stacks for her Ultimate. With Trend of the Universal Market or E2, he applies even more debuffs.
