The Crow-Feathered Weirdo

“Some people are silent because they have no desires. Some are silent because they have no thoughts. I am silent only because I do not wish to speak.”

Should You Pull for Moze?

Sub-DPS

Moze is a 4-star Lightning character of The Hunt who deals single-target damage through Follow-up ATKs, and most of that damage happens outside his own turn. He marks one enemy as Prey, and every time your teammates hit it, he strikes as well, while the Prey also takes more Follow-up ATK DMG. If your Follow-up ATK team is missing a sub-DPS, Moze is well worth getting, Eidolons included.

He suits anyone who plays Follow-up ATK teams, especially with Feixiao, Dr. Ratio or Yunli. In teams that don't rely on Follow-up ATKs he contributes a lot less, so think it over before you invest in him.

Memory of Chaos Strong He hits single targets and needs a full Follow-up ATK team around him to shine.
Pure Fiction Good As a character of The Hunt he has almost no AoE damage, so he does worse here than in the other two modes.
Apocalyptic Shadow Strong He pours single-target Follow-up ATK damage into the Prey, which works well for taking down bosses.
Pros & Cons

Pros

  • An excellent follow-up attack support, on par with Topaz
  • Unusually high Toughness damage for a character who is not a dedicated breaker
  • He cannot be targeted for most of a fight, so his miserable defensive stats stop mattering
  • Costs no Skill Points at all
  • Fits into any follow-up attack team perfectly
  • Scales extremely well with Eidolons, and his best Eidolon comes very early
  • Very simple and easy to pick up

Cons

  • Often runs into Energy problems
  • As a Hunt character he has almost no AoE damage
  • He contributes far less to teams without follow-up attacks, which makes him unattractive there
  • There are not many good support Light Cones for Hunt characters that are not limited 5-stars

Best Moze Build Guide

Best Moze Build

Build Moze like a regular CRIT-based DPS: CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG and ATK. He already gets CRIT DMG from his Traces, so stack CRIT Rate first.

Best Light Cones

  • 1 Worrisome, Blissful Worrisome, Blissful Best
The best Light Cone once you count both Moze's own damage and the team's. It boosts his Follow-up ATK DMG and CRIT Rate, and makes the enemy take more CRIT DMG. Moze easily stacks both of its charges on the Prey target, so the whole team benefits.
  • 2 Baptism of Pure Thought Baptism of Pure Thought Great
A big boost to Moze's personal damage: up to 44% CRIT DMG, and after his first Ultimate his Follow-up ATKs ignore 24% of the enemy's DEF. The catch is that it usually does more on the character Moze is supporting, so only give it to him if nobody else on the team wants it.
  • 3 Swordplay Swordplay Great
A very strong non-limited option for Moze, especially at high Superimposition. All of his attacks hit multiple times, so the buff stacks up very fast, and since he barely switches targets during a fight, it tends to stay at full effect.
  • 4 Cruising in the Stellar Sea Cruising in the Stellar Sea Great
Gives a lot of CRIT Rate and an ATK boost after he defeats an enemy, and that ATK boost lasts longer on Moze than on other characters. You need him to land a kill early in the fight, and before the enemy drops below 50% HP he will struggle to reach 100% CRIT Rate.
  • 5 See You at the End See You at the End Great
A 4-star Light Cone that boosts Moze's Skill and Follow-up ATK DMG.
  • 6 Final Victor Final Victor Good
The budget pick: a 4-star Light Cone that raises ATK and gives Moze extra CRIT DMG every time he lands a CRIT Hit.

Best Relics

1
The best set. Prey counts as a debuff, so Moze applies a debuff every time he uses his Skill, and the set's bonus doesn't wear off while he is Departed. Moze alone puts 2 debuffs on the target, so a teammate only needs to add 1 more to reach 3 and run the set at full power.
2
The second choice, very close behind the set above. Moze's Follow-up ATKs hit multiple times, so they stack the 4-piece effect very quickly. With Vengewise his Ultimate also counts as a Follow-up ATK, so it benefits from this set too.
3
If you can't put together 4 pieces with good stats yet, mix 2 + 2. Besides these two sets, you can also take 2 pieces from Scholar Lost in Erudition, Musketeer of Wild Wheat, Prisoner in Deep Confinement or The Wind-Soaring Valorous.

Best Planar Ornaments

1
The best set. Every Follow-up ATK from an ally adds to Moze's damage, and his teams launch Follow-up ATKs nonstop, so it usually reaches full stacks very early and gives 25% CRIT DMG and 25% Follow-up ATK DMG. It works best when the team has one or two other Follow-up ATK characters.
2
Gives Moze 12% ATK with no conditions, plus 12% CRIT Rate if the team has another character of The Hunt. Moze's teams usually have one already, so it is easy to activate.
3
Boosts his Follow-up ATK DMG by 15% and raises his Ultimate DMG, as long as Moze has at least 50% CRIT Rate. The trade-off is only 8% CRIT Rate, so it ends up close to Izumo but without any team restriction.
4
A specialist set for when Moze plays alongside Feixiao and focuses on supporting her.

Main Stats

  • FeetATK%
  • Planar SphereLightning DMG Boost
  • Link RopeATK%

Substats

  • 1CRIT Rate
  • 2CRIT DMG
  • 3ATK%

Go for CRIT Rate on the Body, since his minor Traces already give Moze 37.3% CRIT DMG. Take ATK% on both Feet and Rope, which makes it fairly easy to get his ATK high. Use Lightning DMG Boost on the Planar Sphere.

Stack CRIT Rate first until you are around 80%, then move on to CRIT DMG. As for SPD: Daggerhold advances his action on its own, so Moze doesn't need SPD like a regular DPS. Only add some if your team needs him to act first when a fight starts.

Stat Targets

  • CRIT Rate80% or more
  • CRIT DMG120% or more

Skill Priority

Talent > Ultimate > Skill > Basic ATK

His Talent is the core of his kit, and leveling it makes his Follow-up ATKs hit harder. His Ultimate is his second source of damage, so level it right after. The Skill only adds plain damage, and you can mostly skip Basic ATK because Moze barely uses it.

Trace Priority

Nightfeather > Vengewise > Daggerhold (unlock all three early)

Unlock Vengewise as soon as you can: it makes his Ultimate count as a Follow-up ATK and makes the Prey take 25% more Follow-up ATK DMG, which helps the whole team. Nightfeather recovers 1 Skill Point after his Talent's Follow-up ATK, so Moze costs you almost no Skill Points. Daggerhold advances his action when he leaves the Departed state and at the start of each wave, which saves you from building SPD.

Eidolon Priority

E2 and E6 are the most valuable

E1 gives him 20 Energy when he enters battle and 2 more Energy every time his Talent's Additional DMG triggers, which goes a long way toward fixing his Energy problems. E2 raises CRIT DMG by 40% for the whole team when they hit the Prey, turning Moze into a much better support. E4 raises Moze's DMG by 30% for 2 turns after he uses his Ultimate. E6 increases the DMG multiplier of his Talent's Follow-up ATK by 25%, a huge boost. He is a 4-star, so you will pick up his Eidolons over time.

Best Moze Teams

Best Follow-Up ATK Team

Replace Feixiao with: Dr. Ratio, Yunli, Clara, March 7th (The Hunt) Replace Robin with: Ruan Mei, Silver Wolf, Pela, Yukong

Moze works best as a sub-DPS in a Follow-up ATK team, because the Prey has to be hit many times for him to keep attacking. Feixiao acts very often, so she charges Moze fast, and in return his Follow-up ATKs help her build Flying Aureus for her Ultimate, which also counts as a Follow-up ATK and gets the Prey bonus. Aventurine keeps the team alive and adds lots of extra attacks. If you don't have him, anyone who can keep the team alive is fine, but don't use Huohuo next to Feixiao.

Dr. Ratio Team

Replace Robin with: Silver Wolf, Pela

Dr. Ratio wants the enemy to have at least 3 debuffs (ideally 5), and Moze wants teammates who attack as often as possible. The Prey alone gives 2 debuffs, and Dr. Ratio attacks at least twice per action, so he charges Moze steadily. On top of that the Prey takes 25% more Follow-up ATK DMG, and with E2 the team also gets 40% CRIT DMG.

Budget Team (All 4-Stars)

This team needs no 5-star characters. Moze pairs up with March 7th (The Hunt), and once she has E2 she can launch Follow-up ATKs, which makes her a much better partner for him. Yukong raises the whole team's ATK with her Skill, and Lynx handles healing.

Best Teammates for Moze

Feixiao
Feixiao

Moze's best teammate. She takes at least 3 actions every turn, so she charges him faster than anyone, and since most of her damage counts as Follow-up ATK DMG, she gets the full 25% from the Prey.

Dr. Ratio
Dr. Ratio

They cover each other's needs: the Prey gives Dr. Ratio 2 debuffs right away so his Follow-up ATKs come out more easily, and Dr. Ratio attacks often enough to keep Moze charged.

Aventurine
Aventurine

Moze doesn't need much protection because he spends most of the fight Departed, but Aventurine is the sustain who launches the most attacks, which means more Follow-up ATKs from Moze.

Yunli
Yunli

Time her Ultimate so it hits the enemy marked as Prey, and she deals a lot of Follow-up ATK DMG.

March 7th (The Hunt)
March 7th (The Hunt)

The best budget main DPS for Moze, especially once she has E2 and can launch Follow-up ATKs.

Clara
Clara

Her Counters depend on luck, but they still benefit from the Prey's damage bonus.

Yukong
Yukong

Her ATK buff only ticks down when an ally actually ends their turn, so no matter how many Follow-up ATKs Moze launches, the buff doesn't run out faster.

Tingyun
Tingyun

Restores Energy for her teammates, a good option when Feixiao isn't on the team.

Pela
Pela

Lowers enemy DEF with her Ultimate.

Silver Wolf
Silver Wolf

Puts lots of debuffs on enemies, useful when the team needs debuffs.

How to Play Moze

Use His Skill to Mark the Prey

His Skill Fleetwinged Raid deals Lightning DMG to one enemy, marks it as Prey and gives Moze 9 points of Charge. Keeping Prey on an enemy is the most important part of playing Moze. Note that if there are no other characters on the field who can fight, Moze can't use his Skill.

Departed: Attacking Alongside Your Team

While Prey is on the field, Moze enters the Departed state: he vanishes from the field and can't be targeted by enemies or allies, so his low defensive stats stop being a problem. Every time an ally attacks the Prey, Moze deals Lightning Additional DMG and uses up 1 point of Charge. For every 3 points used, he launches a Follow-up ATK on the Prey. When Charge hits 0, the Prey state is removed, Moze comes back and has to mark a target again with his Skill. Thanks to Daggerhold, his action advances by 20% when he leaves the Departed state and by 30% at the start of each wave, so he can mark a new target before the rest of the team acts.

Use His Ultimate on the Prey

His Ultimate Dash In, Gash Out deals heavy Lightning DMG to one enemy and then immediately launches his Talent's Follow-up ATK on that target. If the target dies first, the Follow-up ATK goes to a random enemy instead. Because you get a free Follow-up ATK, use the Ultimate on the enemy marked as Prey. It costs 120 Energy, and while Departed Moze can't use Basic ATKs to recover Energy, so sometimes he will use his Ultimate less often than you expect.

Strong Toughness Damage and No Skill Point Cost

Moze's Follow-up ATK deals the same Toughness damage as a Basic ATK, which is quite high for a character who isn't a dedicated breaker. He spends 1 Skill Point to mark the Prey, and Nightfeather gives 1 back after his Talent's Follow-up ATK, so you only have to plan Skill Points for the other 3 characters. Before a fight, use his Technique Bated Wings to enter Stealth for 20 seconds. If he attacks an enemy to start combat while in Stealth, his DMG goes up by 30% for 2 turns.

Quick Tips

  • If Feixiao is on the team, don't use Huohuo as your healer.
  • In Feixiao teams where you want as many attacks as possible, try 4 pieces of Eagle of Twilight Line, which still works while Moze is Departed.
  • Moze's Basic ATK barely needs leveling, so save your materials for his Talent and Ultimate.
  • Unlock Vengewise as early as you can, since without it Moze is much weaker in Follow-up ATK teams.

Playstyle overview

Moze is a damage dealer who marks an enemy as his Prey, letting allies deal extra Additional DMG when they attack that Prey. At the same time, after the team has attacked the Prey several times, Moze launches a follow-up attack on it.

Moze FAQ

Is Moze worth pulling?
Yes, if you play Follow-up ATK teams. He is a serious rival to Topaz & Numby as a Follow-up ATK support, and as a 4-star he is much easier to get, which lets you build two Follow-up ATK teams without weakening either one. Outside that kind of team he is far less appealing.
Does Moze need SPD?
Not as much as a regular DPS, because Daggerhold advances his action when he leaves the Departed state and at the start of each wave. Only add SPD if your team needs him to act first to mark the Prey.
Why does Moze often run low on Energy?
His Ultimate costs 120 Energy, and while Departed he can't use Basic ATKs to recover it. His Follow-up ATKs give a fair amount of Energy, which helps a bit, and E1 helps a lot.
Which Eidolons should you aim for on Moze?
E2 is very valuable because it gives the whole team 40% CRIT DMG against the Prey. E6 is also a big boost to his Follow-up ATKs. E1 helps with his Energy problems.
Does Moze need protecting?
Not much. He spends most of the fight Departed, where enemies can't target him, so his low defensive stats barely matter.
