Cloudlancer Art: North Wind
[Single Target]Deals Wind DMG equal to 140% of Dan Heng’s ATK to one enemy.
“Even as we speak, farewells are happening throughout the universe. The grief that we share is real, but there’s nothing special about it.”
Dan Heng is a single-target Wind damage dealer you get for free right at the start of the game. He hits hardest when the enemy is Slowed and when an ally triggers his Talent to give him Wind RES PEN. He carries the early game quite well, but the further you go, the harder it gets for him to keep up unless you invest in him very heavily.
A good fit for new players who need a single-target damage dealer to take down Elite enemies and bosses weak to Wind. If you already have a solid 5-star damage dealer, there is no need to pour a lot of resources into him.
Build Dan Heng like a regular damage dealer around ATK, CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG. CRIT Rate matters a little more than usual, because his Skill has to land a CRIT Hit to have a chance to Slow the enemy.

Go CRIT Rate on the Body first, since his Skill needs CRIT Hits to have a chance to Slow. SPD or ATK% on the Feet both work: SPD gives him more turns and activates Glamoth, while ATK% hits harder if you use a different Planar Ornament. Use Wind DMG Boost on the Planar Sphere, with ATK% as the backup.
CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG and SPD all matter, with ATK% after them. Try to keep about 2% CRIT DMG for every 1% CRIT Rate.
His Ultimate is his biggest source of damage, and his Skill is his damage while the Ultimate isn't ready, so level them together. His Talent adds a lot of damage at higher levels. Basic ATK goes last since you hardly ever need to use it.
Faster Than Light is his most important Trace: after launching an attack, it has a 50% fixed chance to increase his SPD by 20% for 2 turns. Dan Heng's base SPD is 110, so that is 22 free SPD. Hidden Dragon reduces his chance of being attacked when his HP is at 50% or lower, and High Gale makes his Basic ATK deal 40% more DMG to Slowed enemies.
Dan Heng doesn't need any Eidolons to work. E4 lets him act again right away when his Ultimate defeats an enemy, which is handy for clearing out boss summons. E2 cuts his Talent cooldown by 1 turn, so every other turn can get the Wind RES PEN, a big damage boost if you can make use of it. E1 adds 12% CRIT Rate, but only while the enemy's HP is at 50% or higher. E6 is quite situational.
Welt fits really well here because he can Slow enemies, which makes Dan Heng hit harder. Sunday and Huohuo give him Energy and buffs, and they also trigger his Talent's Wind RES PEN. If you want to cover his lack of AoE damage, swap Welt for Blade.
A team that copes with most fights against a single target. Yukong boosts Dan Heng's CRIT Rate and DMG, and Trailblazer (Preservation) with their Shields plus Natasha with her healing keep everyone standing. Keep in mind that Yukong's Roaring Bowstrings and the Trailblazer's Talent don't target Dan Heng directly, so they won't trigger his Talent.
Use this when the enemy is weak to Quantum but not to Wind. Silver Wolf is a must, because she implants a Wind Weakness on the enemy for Dan Heng to hit. Bronya raises his ATK and CRIT DMG and triggers his Talent.
Slows enemies down, so Dan Heng's Ultimate and Basic ATK hit harder.
Gives Energy and buffs, and triggers Dan Heng's Talent for Wind RES PEN.
Raises his ATK and CRIT DMG, and can trigger Dan Heng's Talent too.
Buffs his DMG and hands out extra Skill Points, so Dan Heng can cast his Skill more often.
Heals, gives Energy and buffs. With Huohuo on the team, Dan Heng can use his Ultimate almost back to back.
Her Energy restoration lets Dan Heng get his Ultimate sooner, almost back to back.
Raises Dan Heng's SPD and can trigger the Wind RES PEN from his Talent.
A 4-star who raises Dan Heng's CRIT Rate and DMG, a good fit for budget teams.
Implants a Wind Weakness on enemies, so Dan Heng can take on fights where the enemies aren't weak to Wind.
Fills the Sub-DPS slot and covers the AoE damage Dan Heng is missing.
His Ultimate, Ethereal Dream, gets a much bigger DMG multiplier if the target is Slowed, and his Basic ATK also hits harder against Slowed enemies thanks to the High Gale Trace. You apply Slow with his Skill, Cloudlancer Art: Torrent: it hits several times, and every hit that lands a CRIT has a chance to Slow the enemy. So use his Skill on the target first, then follow up with his Ultimate.
Don't hold his Ultimate too long just waiting for the Slow. It only costs 100 Energy, so it comes back very quickly, and sitting on it wastes Energy and can cost you whole Ultimates later in the fight.
His Talent, Superiority of Reach, gives Dan Heng's next attack extra Wind RES PEN, and then it needs 2 turns before it can trigger again. To trigger it, an ally has to use an Ability that targets Dan Heng directly (the blue targeting marker shows up over his head). Abilities that affect allies without targeting him, and Regeneration effects, don't count.
Bring a Harmony, Abundance or Preservation character to buff Dan Heng directly. And don't stress about lining the Talent up with his Ultimate, since his Skill with Wind RES PEN already hits hard. Just trigger it whenever you can.
Dan Heng has 110 base SPD, one of the highest in the game. His Faster Than Light Trace also has a 50% fixed chance to increase his SPD by 20% for 2 turns after each attack, which works out to about 22 free SPD. That makes it easy for him to reach the 135 SPD that Firmament Frontline: Glamoth needs, and with SPD buffs from teammates he can reach 160.
All of Dan Heng's abilities hit a single target, so he shines against Elite enemies and bosses weak to Wind. Against lots of enemies at once, or Elite enemies that keep summoning more, he has a harder time. In those fights, bring a teammate with AoE damage like Blade, or have E4 so Dan Heng acts again right after his Ultimate defeats an enemy.
