“Fyreflies are such magical creatures, aren’t they? They may throw themselves at a flame or suddenly grow old, but every night before that, they will shine brighter than the stars.”

Should You Pull for Firefly?

Main DPS

Firefly is a Destruction DPS built around Super Break. Her Ultimate puts her into Complete Combustion, where she adds Fire Weakness to enemies herself, breaks their Toughness very quickly and then piles on Super Break DMG. She is fast, very tanky and handles her own Energy, so she is well worth pulling.

A great pick if you want to play Break teams, since the free Trailblazer (Harmony) already pairs with her very well. Her best team adds The Dahlia, Fugue and Lingsha and is a huge step up from the cheap one, and The Dahlia is close to mandatory against today's thick Toughness bars, so plan for pulling teammates too.

Memory of Chaos Outstanding Firefly takes turns constantly, adds her own Fire Weakness to break Toughness, then dumps Super Break DMG on Weakness-Broken enemies.
Pure Fiction Outstanding Her Enhanced Skill only hits the main target and the enemies next to it, so it does not spread across the whole field.
Apocalyptic Shadow Outstanding She adds Fire Weakness on her own, so she can fight enemies that have no natural Fire Weakness, and with The Dahlia she can deal Super Break DMG even before an enemy is Weakness Broken.
Pros & Cons

Pros

  • A very good Super Break DPS
  • Continuously implants Fire Weakness on several enemies at once
  • Naturally very high Toughness damage
  • Naturally very tanky, which makes sustainless teams easy to run
  • A very fast character with built-in SPD buffs and action advance
  • Completely self-sufficient on Energy
  • An accessible low-cost team with the Harmony Trailblazer, Ruan Mei, and Gallagher

Cons

  • The premium team is an enormous upgrade
  • Burns through Skill Points extremely fast
  • The Herta is nearly mandatory against today's Toughness bar values
  • Demands very high stat investment to reach her peak

Best Firefly Build Guide

Firefly Break Effect Build

Most of Firefly's damage is Break DMG, so CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG are not important for her. Stack Break Effect, SPD and ATK, since her Traces also turn ATK into Break Effect.

Best Light Cones

  • 1 Whereabouts Should Dreams Rest Whereabouts Should Dreams Rest Best
Firefly's signature. It gives a lot of Break Effect and makes enemies take more Break DMG. That said, teammates can make up part of both, for example Gallagher with his own damage taken debuff, so how far ahead it is depends on the team you build.
  • 2 Thus Burns the Dawn Thus Burns the Dawn Great
Phainon's signature, but it works really well on Firefly. It has the highest base ATK in the game, which Module γ turns into Break Effect, plus SPD and DEF ignore on every attack, Break DMG included. Its DMG boost does not affect Super Break DMG, so don't count on that part.
  • 3 On the Fall of an Aeon On the Fall of an Aeon Great
The best free option once you have it at Superimposition 5. It gives a lot of stackable ATK% and good base ATK, and Module γ turns that ATK into Break Effect. If Gallagher is on the team to cover the damage taken debuff, the gap to her signature gets even smaller.
  • 4 Indelible Promise Indelible Promise Good
Firefly's best 4-star Light Cone, with Break Effect as its stat. It gets much stronger at high Superimposition, so it suits you if your On the Fall of an Aeon S5 is already on another character.

Best Relics

1
The best set by a wide margin. On top of Break Effect, it lets her Break DMG and Super Break DMG ignore enemy DEF. Stats that boost this kind of damage are rare for Break characters, so the DEF ignore is extremely valuable.
2
The second choice. It gives a lot of Break Effect and restores Energy when Firefly inflicts Weakness Break. Still, it is quite a bit weaker than Iron Cavalry.
3
Mix 2 + 2 when you have pieces from these sets with better substats.

Best Planar Ornaments

1
The top pick. It gives SPD so breakpoints are easier to hit, plus a lot of Break Effect. Firefly adds Fire Weakness to enemies herself, so turning on the Break Effect bonus is easy.
2
Similar Break Effect but no SPD. Firefly reaches the set's 145 SPD requirement easily, so if your SPD is already covered, this is not much of a downgrade.
3
The third choice, and it only boosts Firefly's ATK. That ATK still turns into Break Effect, so it is useful.

Main Stats

  • BodyATK%
  • FeetSPD
  • Planar SphereATK%
  • Link RopeBreak Effect

Substats

  • 1SPD (up to your breakpoint)
  • 2Break Effect
  • 3ATK%
  • 4ATK

Body and Planar Sphere go ATK% because Firefly has a Trace that converts ATK into Break Effect. Feet go SPD so she gets more turns during Complete Combustion. Link Rope goes Break Effect, the main stat of the whole build.

Collect SPD until you hit the breakpoint for your team, then put everything into Break Effect and grab ATK% when you see it, since ATK also turns into Break Effect. Flat ATK comes last. Firefly has many different SPD breakpoints depending on team and mode, so pick one and build toward it.

Stat Targets

  • Break Effect (in combat)300% or more (Module β's higher threshold), 360% if you can
  • ATK2600 or more
  • SPD150 or 157, depending on your breakpoint
  • SPD with Ruan Meiabout 155 outside combat, 164 in combat
  • SPD with The Dahlia178 to 188 outside combat

Skill Priority

Ultimate > Skill = Talent > Basic ATK

Her Ultimate is the heart of her kit, and leveling it raises the SPD buff and the Break DMG enemies take. Her Skill matters because most of her damage comes from her Enhanced Skill. Her Talent raises her DMG Reduction and Effect RES, which keeps her alive longer. Basic ATK goes last.

Trace Priority

Module α: Antilag Outburst > Module β: Autoreactive Armor > Module γ: Core Overload

Module α gives extra Break Effect during Complete Combustion and makes the state last longer. Module β is her main source of Super Break DMG. Module γ turns ATK above 1800 into Break Effect. You want all three unlocked.

Eidolon Priority

E2 is the best stopping point if you are spending

E1 makes her Enhanced Skill ignore 15% DEF and stop costing Skill Points, which makes Skill Point management much easier. E2 gives her 1 extra turn right away when she defeats an enemy or inflicts Weakness Break with an Enhanced attack, once per turn, and with a teammate who advances her action you can chain those turns. E6 greatly boosts her Toughness damage during Complete Combustion.

Best Firefly Teams

Best Team

Replace Fugue with: Trailblazer (Harmony) Replace The Dahlia with: Ruan Mei Replace Lingsha with: Gallagher, Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae

Firefly, Fugue and Lingsha all deal Super Break DMG together. The Dahlia adds Break Effect, raises Weakness Break Efficiency and lets the team deal Super Break DMG even when enemies are not Weakness Broken. Lingsha gives AoE healing and makes enemies take more Break DMG. Without Fugue, use the Trailblazer (Harmony), and without The Dahlia, Ruan Mei also gives Break Effect and Weakness Break Efficiency.

Sustainless Team

Replace Ruan Mei with: Trailblazer (Harmony)

Firefly is naturally very tanky: her DMG Reduction stays at its maximum during Complete Combustion, and every Enhanced attack heals her. That lets you drop the healer for one more support. Ruan Mei extends how long enemies stay Weakness Broken and gives the team SPD and Break Effect.

Easy Trailblazer Team

An accessible team, since the Trailblazer (Harmony) and Gallagher are both easy to get. The Trailblazer boosts Super Break DMG and Break Effect, Ruan Mei helps break Toughness faster, and Gallagher heals and generates lots of Skill Points, which is exactly what E0 Firefly is short on.

Budget Team (All 4-Stars)

Replace Lynx with: Gallagher

Every Firefly team wants the Trailblazer (Harmony) to boost her Super Break DMG. Asta raises her ATK and SPD, and Lynx keeps the team alive with healing. If you have Gallagher, he can replace Lynx, since he heals well and generates lots of Skill Points.

Best Teammates for Firefly

The Dahlia
The Dahlia

Fixes most of E0 Firefly's problems: Toughness bars that are too thick, Skill Point shortages and the gap between Ultimates. She lets Firefly deal Super Break DMG to enemies that are not Weakness Broken, raises her SPD and refunds Energy on each Enhanced Skill so Firefly can go straight back into her Ultimate.

Ruan Mei
Ruan Mei

Raises the whole team's Weakness Break Efficiency, uses her Ultimate to extend how long enemies stay Weakness Broken, and adds SPD and Break Effect, which makes gearing Firefly easier.

Fugue
Fugue

Boosts the team's Break Effect and Super Break DMG, applies an effect to every enemy that creates an extra instance of Break DMG, and helps trigger Firefly's E2. Firefly already adds her own Fire Weakness, so Fugue can give her Weakness Type ignore effect to another teammate such as Lingsha.

Trailblazer (Harmony)
Trailblazer (Harmony)

A free character who boosts the team's Super Break DMG and Break Effect. At E6 with an Energy Regeneration Rate Link Rope, the Trailblazer gets the Ultimate back very quickly, and with the Dance! Dance! Dance! Light Cone that means constant action advance.

Lingsha
Lingsha

A premium healer for Break teams who makes enemies take 25% more Break DMG and is great at AoE Toughness damage. The catch is that she needs to use her Skill regularly, while E0 Firefly already eats lots of Skill Points, so plan your Skill Points carefully.

Gallagher
Gallagher

A very strong 4-star healer for Break teams. He breaks single-target Toughness well, generates lots of Skill Points, scales his healing with Break Effect and uses his Ultimate to make enemies take more Break DMG.

Bronya
Bronya

Gives Firefly an extra turn during Complete Combustion. The ATK she buffs also gets turned into Break Effect by Module γ.

Asta
Asta

Boosts ATK and SPD, two stats Firefly wants.

Pela
Pela

Reduces enemy DEF, which makes Super Break DMG hit harder.

Huohuo
Huohuo

Heals, and her Ultimate restores Energy for the whole team and boosts Firefly's ATK.

How to Play Firefly

Normal Skill First, Then Ultimate

Outside her enhanced state, her Skill Order: Aerial Bombardment consumes 40% of Firefly's Max HP to restore a large chunk of Energy and advances her next action by 25%. If her Energy is below 50% when battle starts, her Talent sets it to 50%, so she usually has enough Energy for her Ultimate after her first turn. Her Ultimate costs a full 240 Energy, so getting back into it after just 1 turn needs teammates like The Dahlia. Normally it takes at most 2 turns.

Complete Combustion

Her Ultimate Fyrefly Type-IV: Complete Combustion advances Firefly's action by 100%, raises her SPD and turns her Basic ATK and Skill into enhanced versions. Each Enhanced attack raises her Weakness Break Efficiency and heals her. Her Enhanced Skill adds Fire Weakness to the target and adjacent enemies for 2 turns. A countdown timer with a fixed SPD of 70 shows up in the Action Order, and the state ends when its turn comes. Firefly cannot use her Ultimate while the state is active.

ATK Becomes Break Effect, Break Effect Becomes Super Break DMG

Module γ: Core Overload gives Firefly 0.8% Break Effect for every 10 ATK above 1800, with no cap. For example, 2600 ATK means 64% extra Break Effect. While she is in Complete Combustion with 150% or 300% Break Effect, Module β: Autoreactive Armor converts the Toughness Reduction of each attack on a Weakness-Broken enemy into 1 instance of 100% or 150% Super Break DMG. That is why outside sources of ATK help Firefly even when they don't give Break Effect directly.

Extending the State With Weakness Break

Module α: Antilag Outburst gives Firefly 25% Break Effect during Complete Combustion. Each time an Enhanced attack inflicts Weakness Break, the countdown is delayed by 10%, up to 3 times per Complete Combustion. She keeps her bonus SPD longer and gets more Enhanced attacks in.

Quick Tips

  • Don't build CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG on Firefly, since her damage is mostly Break DMG.
  • Open fights with her Technique Δ Order: Meteoric Incineration, which adds Fire Weakness to all enemies for 2 turns at the start of each wave and deals Fire DMG to them.
  • E0 Firefly burns through Skill Points very fast, so pair her with a Skill Point generator like Gallagher or The Dahlia.
  • With Thus Burns the Dawn, keep her total DEF reduction from going over 100%, since anything past that is wasted.
  • The countdown delay from Module α can sometimes cost you a normal Skill right after the state ends, but most players don't need to worry about it.

Playstyle overview

Firefly is a damage dealer who fights in the SAM battle armor and gains enhanced abilities by entering Complete Combustion through her Ultimate. In Complete Combustion, SAM’s Break Efficiency and Break DMG increase, and she can apply Toughness reduction to enemies that have no Fire Weakness. She can also add a Fire Weakness to enemies with her Technique or her Enhanced Skill.

Firefly FAQ

Is Firefly worth pulling?
Yes. She deals huge Break DMG, heals herself, adds Fire Weakness to several enemies at once and does great work in both Memory of Chaos and Apocalyptic Shadow.
Does Firefly need CRIT Rate?
No. Focus on Break Effect, SPD and ATK. ATK still matters because Module γ turns ATK above 1800 into Break Effect.
What Light Cone should Firefly use without her signature?
Thus Burns the Dawn is a very good choice. If you don't want to spend, use On the Fall of an Aeon at S5, or the 4-star Indelible Promise at high Superimposition.
Which Eidolon should I stop at?
E2 is the best stopping point if you are spending, since she gets extra turns when she defeats an enemy or inflicts Weakness Break. E1 is also very worth it because her Enhanced Skill no longer costs Skill Points.
Does a Firefly team need a healer?
Not necessarily. Firefly is very tanky thanks to her Talent Chrysalid Pyronexus and heals herself on every Enhanced attack, so some teams drop the healer entirely for another support.
