Relics and Planar Ornaments: The 6 Gear Slots
Every character wears 6 pieces in 2 groups. The 4 Cavern Relics are Head, Hands, Body and Feet. The 2 Planar Ornaments are the Planar Sphere and the Link Rope. Each group is farmed in a different place.
Cavern Relics
Head, Hands, Body, FeetEach set has a 2-piece and a 4-piece bonus. Wear 4 pieces of one set for the full effect, or mix 2 and 2 from different sets to get two 2-piece bonuses.
Planar Ornaments
Planar Sphere, Link RopeOrnament sets only have a 2-piece bonus, so your Sphere and Rope almost always match. The Sphere is also the only slot that can roll an elemental DMG Boost main stat.
Set bonuses often matter as much as the stats. Scholar Lost in Erudition 4-piece boosts Skill and Ultimate DMG, while The Ashblazing Grand Duke is made for characters who use Follow-up ATKs all the time. Every set is listed on the Relics page.
Main Stats by Slot and What to Pick
The main stat is the big line at the top. Leveling makes that number bigger, but it never turns into a different stat. Head and Hands always roll the same thing, so the other 4 slots are the ones to watch.
| Slot | Possible main stats | Usual pick |
|---|---|---|
| Head | HP (flat) | Nothing to choose, judge it by substats |
| Hands | ATK (flat) | Nothing to choose, judge it by substats |
| Body | HP%, ATK%, DEF%, CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, Outgoing Healing Boost, Effect Hit Rate | DPS: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG, whichever you’re short on. Healers: Outgoing Healing Boost. Debuffers: Effect Hit Rate |
| Feet | HP%, ATK%, DEF%, SPD | SPD for most, especially supports who must act before the DPS. A few DPS who want to be slow take ATK% |
| Planar Sphere | HP%, ATK%, DEF%, DMG Boost for each of the 7 elements (Physical, Fire, Ice, Lightning, Wind, Quantum, Imaginary) | DPS: the DMG Boost matching their element. Supports and healers: the stat their abilities scale with |
| Link Rope | HP%, ATK%, DEF%, Break Effect, Energy Regeneration Rate | DPS: ATK%. Break characters: Break Effect. Supports who need frequent Ultimates: Energy Regeneration Rate |
Which Substats Are Worth Chasing
Substats are the smaller lines underneath, up to 4 of them. Each time a piece reaches a level milestone, the game either adds a new line (if there are fewer than 4) or boosts an existing one, at random. This is the luck part of Relics.
There are 12 possible substats: HP, HP%, ATK, ATK%, DEF, DEF%, SPD, Break Effect, Effect Hit Rate, Effect RES, CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG. Energy Regeneration Rate, Outgoing Healing Boost and elemental DMG Boost never show up as substats, so the main stat is the only place to get them.
| Role | Substats to prioritize | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Crit DPS | CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, SPD, ATK% | Crit multiplies straight into damage |
| Buffer | SPD, HP%, DEF%, Effect RES | Fast enough to buff before the DPS, tanky enough to stay alive |
| Healer or shielder | SPD, plus whatever stat their healing or Shield scales with | Each scales off its own stat (HP, DEF or ATK), so read the ability description |
| Break | Break Effect, SPD | More in the Break guide |
| Debuff and DoT | Effect Hit Rate, SPD, ATK% | Without enough Effect Hit Rate, debuffs miss more often |
Effect RES sounds like filler, but a support wearing Broken Keel needs at least 30% for the whole team to get 10% CRIT DMG. Thresholds like this are collected at the end of this guide.
Leveling Relics Without Wasting Materials
You level a Relic by feeding it other Relics or the Relic EXP materials Lost Lightdust, Lost Gold Fragment and Lost Crystal. Use Salvage in your inventory on junk Relics to get enhancement materials back.
| Rarity | Max level |
|---|---|
| 2-star | +6 |
| 3-star | +9 |
| 4-star | +12 |
| 5-star | +15 |
So 4-star pieces are only placeholders. Once 5-stars drop regularly, stop pouring materials into 4-stars.
- Filter as soon as it dropsWrong main stat, like DEF% Feet for a DPS? Throw it out. Good substats can’t save it.
- Turn on Enhancement CapThis option on the enhance screen stops at each level milestone, so you can see which substat just got the roll.
- Test it to the first milestoneIf the roll lands on a flat stat or something your character doesn’t use, stop and keep the piece as fodder.
- Only push to +15 when it looks goodIf it has rolled into the lines you want a few times, keep going. If it’s just okay, leave it and wait for something better.
Where to Farm Relics and Planar Ornaments
Cavern Relics: Cavern of Corrosion
Head, Hands, Body and Feet come from the Cavern of Corrosion, which unlocks later in the Jarilo-VI story. Each Cavern drops a fixed pair of sets. For example, Cavern of Corrosion: The Shackling Prison drops Scholar Lost in Erudition and Sacerdos’ Relived Ordeal. Pick the Cavern with the set you want and treat the other one as a bonus.
Caverns have 6 difficulty levels that unlock with your Equilibrium Level. The higher it is, the better your odds of 5-star Relics, so lots of 4-stars early on is normal.
Planar Ornaments: Divergent Universe
Planar Spheres and Link Ropes don’t drop in the Cavern of Corrosion. You farm them in Planar Ornament Extraction inside the Divergent Universe, which has every set. Some older sets like Space Sealing Station can also be redeemed in Simulated Universe worlds (from World 3 on), but Extraction has everything in one place.
Extra sources for new players
- Trailblaze Mission rewards and the treasure chests you open while exploring.
- World shops, where each one sells a full 4-piece set.
- Trailblaze Level rewards and Operation Briefing tasks in the Interastral Peace Guide.
These only fill gaps early on. Long-term gear still has to be farmed.
Self-Modeling Resin and the Omni-Synthesizer
Farming alone is all luck. Relic Synthesis in the Omni-Synthesizer offers two ways to take some luck out.
Crafting with Relic Remains
Pick the set and the slotYou get Relic Remains by salvaging Relics. You choose the set and the slot, but the main stat is random. Since Head and Hands have fixed main stats, this is a great way to fill them.
Crafting with Self-Modeling Resin
Pick the main stat tooSelf-Modeling Resin lets you choose the main stat too. Substats are still random, but the biggest line can’t miss.
Self-Modeling Resin is rare. Its main source is Nameless Honor rewards, so spend it carefully.
- Use it on Body, Feet, Planar Sphere and Link Rope. The Body has 7 possible main stats and the Sphere has 10, so they miss the most when farming.
- Skip Head and Hands, since each has only one possible main stat.
- Prioritize hard-to-hit pieces like a crit Body, SPD Feet, or the right element Sphere for your main DPS.
- Only use it on sets your character will wear for a long time.
SPD Breakpoints: Why Everyone Talks About 134
SPD decides turn order. The game ranks turns with a hidden number called Action Value: the closer to 0, the sooner a unit acts, and higher SPD makes it drop faster. Switch it on in Settings to see it next to each unit in the Action Order.
Combat is split into cycles, and in each cycle every unit acts at least once. In modes scored by cycle count, like Memory of Chaos or Pure Fiction, finishing in fewer cycles makes full rewards easier to get. SPD breakpoints are the values that give a character an extra turn, or an earlier one, in the first few cycles. Between breakpoints, your turn count often doesn’t change at all.
| SPD | Turns in the first 5 cycles | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 120 | 6, with 2 turns in cycle 2 | Also the threshold for several Planar Ornament sets |
| 134 | 7, with 2 turns in cycles 1 and 4 | The usual DPS target and the stopping point for low investment |
| 143 | 7, with 2 turns in cycles 1 and 3 | Same total as 134, but the extra turn comes earlier |
| 146 | 8, with 2 turns in cycles 1, 3 and 5 | Stopping point for medium investment |
| 156 | 8, with 2 turns in cycles 1, 3 and 4 | The extra turn comes earlier than at 146 |
| 160 | 8, with 2 turns in cycles 1, 2 and 4 | Stopping point for heavy investment |
| 164, 172, 178 | 9 | A luxury, usually needs SPD buffs from teammates or giving up lots of other substats |
| 182 | 10, with 2 turns in every cycle | Very hard to reach with Relics alone |
| 200 | 11, with 3 turns in cycle 1 | Very hard to reach with Relics alone |
DPS: Aim for 134 to 135
For most DPS, 134 to 135 SPD is the sweet spot: 2 turns in the very first cycle without giving up much damage. SPD Feet plus a few SPD substats usually gets you there. Only Feet can roll SPD as a main stat, but any piece can roll it as a substat, apart from Feet that already have it as the main stat. And 135 is also the threshold for Firmament Frontline: Glamoth.
Supports: It Depends on the Kit
A support who has to buff before the DPS attacks needs to be faster than the DPS. Bronya is an easy example with two options: sit exactly 1 SPD below the DPS so she pulls them forward right after their turn, or stack as much SPD as she can and push the DPS to the front from the very start.
Stat Thresholds Your Relic Sets Need
Many sets only turn on their extra bonus at a certain number. Missing it by 1 point means you get nothing, so check the stats screen after every gear swap.
| Set | Type | Requirement | Extra bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Space Sealing Station | Planar Ornament | SPD 120 or higher | 12% more ATK |
| Fleet of the Ageless | Planar Ornament | SPD 120 or higher | 8% ATK for the whole team |
| Firmament Frontline: Glamoth | Planar Ornament | SPD 135 or 160 | 12% or 18% more DMG |
| Giant Tree of Rapt Brooding | Planar Ornament | SPD 135 or 180 | 12% or 20% more Outgoing Healing |
| Talia: Kingdom of Banditry | Planar Ornament | SPD 145 | 20% more Break Effect |
| Diviner of Distant Reach | Cavern Relic, 4-piece | SPD 120 or 160 before entering combat | 10% or 18% more CRIT Rate |
| Rutilant Arena | Planar Ornament | CRIT Rate 70% | 20% more Basic ATK and Skill DMG |
| Inert Salsotto | Planar Ornament | CRIT Rate 50% | 15% more Ultimate and Follow-up ATK DMG |
| Broken Keel | Planar Ornament | Effect RES 30% | 10% CRIT DMG for the whole team |
| Bone Collection’s Serene Demesne | Planar Ornament | Max HP 5000 | 28% CRIT DMG for the wearer and their memosprite |
The 120 and 160 thresholds match the SPD breakpoints above, and 135 is just 1 over 134. Tune SPD to hit your breakpoint and your set at the same time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG Body better?
It depends on what you’re short on. The two stats work as a pair, so leaning too hard into one of them adds very little damage. If your CRIT Rate is still low, take a CRIT Rate Body, and once it’s high enough, switch to CRIT DMG. If you’re using Rutilant Arena, count its 70% CRIT Rate threshold in too.
Should my DPS use SPD Feet or ATK% Feet?
Most DPS use SPD Feet, because the extra turns cost very little damage. The exception is characters who want to be slow, such as anyone wearing Poet of Mourning Collapse. The safest answer is the recommended build on that character’s page.
Should I use Self-Modeling Resin on Head and Hands?
No. Head always has HP and Hands always have ATK as the main stat, so choosing the main stat there does nothing. Save your Resin for Body, Feet, Planar Sphere or Link Rope. If you want the right set on Head and Hands, craft them with Relic Remains instead.
Where do I farm Planar Ornaments?
In Planar Ornament Extraction inside the Divergent Universe, which has every set. Some older sets can also be redeemed in the Simulated Universe worlds. Planar Ornaments don’t drop in the Cavern of Corrosion.
Why do I keep getting 4-star Relics?
Your chance of 5-star drops in the Cavern of Corrosion goes up with your Equilibrium Level. While it’s still low, lots of 4-star drops are normal. Keep playing to raise it, unlock the higher difficulties and keep farming, and in the meantime only level your 4-star pieces as much as you need.
What’s the difference between 130 and 134 SPD?
At 134, your character gets 2 turns in the very first cycle and 7 turns across the first 5 cycles. At 130 you haven’t reached the next breakpoint, so you get the same turns as at 120: 6 in the first 5 cycles. In modes scored by cycles, that early extra turn helps you clear enemies faster. Aiming for 135 clears the 134 breakpoint and also meets the Firmament Frontline: Glamoth threshold if you use that set.
